Delhi. The situation became normal after the protest that lasted for more than a month ended at Jantar Mantar, the main protest site in the capital Delhi. After the protesters returned, normal traffic resumed in the area and the NDMC cleaned the area by carrying out a special cleaning drive overnight. After the protest ended, a large amount of garbage was accumulated in Jantar Mantar and surrounding areas. According to NDMC, around 60 metric tonnes of garbage was removed during the cleanliness drive.
Cleaning and restoration campaign continued throughout the night
NDMC conducted special cleaning drive around Jantar Mantar Road, Tolstoy Marg, Sansad Marg, Jai Singh Marg and Connaught Place. The area was cleaned by deploying a large number of sweepers, officers and machines. NDMC Vice President Kuljeet Singh Chahal supervised the entire operation. He directed the officials to complete the cleaning, repair and restoration work as soon as possible.
Metro station entry and exit reopened
The entry and exit gates of around 18 stations of Delhi Metro, which were closed due to security reasons during the protest, were reopened. DMRC informed that now all metro stations are open normally for passengers.
Normalcy returned at Jantar Mantar
During the protest, Jantar Mantar and surrounding roads were quite busy due to crowd and security arrangements. After the protest ended, there was silence in the area on Sunday and normal traffic was restored. NDMC officials said that the campaign will continue to keep public places clean and safe. He appealed to the people to cooperate in maintaining cleanliness of public places and protection of public property.
