While earlier the employees used to get ₹10,500 per month, now their salary has been increased to ₹20,500 per month. After this decision, the long running agitation of the employees has also ended.

Monthly salary increased from ₹10,500 to ₹20,500

Thousands of contractual sanitation workers will directly benefit from this decision of the state government. According to the government, earlier the salary was ₹10,500, which was increased to ₹14,000 some time ago. Now after the new announcement, employees will get a salary of ₹ 20,500 every month. This is expected to strengthen their financial position.

Strike ends, employees get relief

Contract sanitation workers in Barnala were on strike demanding salary increase and regularization. After the government announced salary increase, the employees decided to withdraw their agitation. With this, cleanliness system in municipal bodies is also expected to become normal.

The government also gave assurance on other demands

The government says the salary increase is only the first step. Employees’ welfare, service conditions and other pending demands will also be considered further. This has sent a positive message about the future to the contract employees.
