Saurav Das:The student movement that lasted for 37 days at Jantar Mantar in Delhi ended. After the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, a video of some members of the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) celebrating is becoming increasingly viral on social media. In the video, workers are seen dancing and celebrating in a hotel, in which CJP spokesperson Saurav Das is also seen.

After these pictures and videos surfaced, a debate broke out on social media whether it was appropriate to celebrate like this as soon as the movement ended. Amidst this controversy, Saurav Das has given his reaction and defended Gen-G.

After the viral video, many social media users raised questions on CJP’s attitude. Some people said that celebrating like this when the capital was going through the tension of recent protests and clashes with the police, gave the wrong message.

Saurav Das said – The new generation’s way of protesting is different
As the controversy escalated, CJP’s spokesperson Saurav Das gave his reaction on social media platform X. While replying to a post he wrote- “This clearly shows that the critics do not understand the language of ‘Gen Z’ and the younger generation at all. We can sit on the road for as long as we want. We can protest even while dancing and singing. We can also gather people while drinking cold coffee. We can fight for change, even if our approach is not what previous generations thought of a movement (no pun intended!).

Wrote further in the post- “This generation is like that. Confident, creative, able to face difficulties and someone who cannot be molded into any one mould. Uncles and aunts can keep complaining. They’ll just have to put up with us!”

37 days movement ended after resignation
After the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, CJP decided to end its agitation on July 26. Earlier, representatives of the organization had held a meeting with Union Ministers JP Nadda and Jitendra Singh.

The organization claims that the government has accepted many of their major demands. These include issues like resignation of the minister, compensation to the families of students who committed suicide during the examination controversy and withdrawal of cases registered against the protesters.

Next meeting will be held on education reform
According to CJP, despite the end of the movement, another meeting is proposed with the government in the next four weeks regarding comprehensive reforms in the education system. The organization says that this movement was not limited to the resignation of just one minister, but efforts will continue in the direction of change in the education system.

Meanwhile, after the agitation at Jantar Mantar ended, the protesters concluded their campaign with sloganeering and celebrations, following which the protest site was evacuated.
