Transfer dominoes could start to fall with three French stars involved.
Liverpool have received a major lift in their chase for Bradley Barcola.
The Reds are believed to have been given a price tag of about £145million by Paris Saint-Germain for Barcola, who, it appears, is unlikely to put pen to paper on a new contract at the Parc des Princes.
At the same time, Sky Sports reported earlier this month that Liverpool had begun talks with Monaco over a move for Maghnes Akliouche, as they look to add a wide player after star winger Mohamed Salah left on a free transfer.
It now seems they have missed out on their first-choice target Yan Diomande, with Liverpool’s €100million bid reportedly turned down by RB Leipzig.
The Ivorian teenager, 19, is now expected to join Real Madrid, with an agreement said to be nearing completion between the two clubs, and Diomande himself keen on a switch to the Santiago Bernabeu.
Barcola has now become their new main target, and attention will be firmly on him after Foot Mercato claimed that Akliouche would prefer to join PSG rather than Liverpool, and informed the Premier League side of that stance.
It looks likely that Paris would move for Akliouche if Barcola leaves, and the fact that Monaco are set to secure what appears to be a ready-made replacement for Akliouche could set the transfer dominoes in motion.
Fabrizio Romano reports that Monaco have agreed a €25m deal to sign Matthis Abline from Nantes, who is capable of playing in all three positions across the attacking third of the pitch.
If and when Abline arrives at the Stade Louis II, it would clear the way for Akliouche to move to the French capital, and open the door for Liverpool to push for Barcola as they continue their search for another option on the flanks.
