Guwahati, July 28 - The Chief Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma, announced that 13 illegal immigrants have been identified, and appropriate legal measures have been initiated against them. However, he did not disclose the specific locations within the state where these individuals were located. In a post on the social media platform X, Chief Minister Sarma stated that efforts are ongoing to ensure the protection of Assam's interests through identification, name removal, and deportation processes.
He confirmed that actions have been taken in accordance with the law against the identified individuals. The Chief Minister emphasized that the Assam government will take stringent measures against any elements posing a threat to the state's security. Recently, the state government informed the assembly that approximately 2,100 illegal foreigners have been deported, expelled, or sent back to their countries over the past decade.
Out of these, 2,023 individuals were from Bangladesh.
