SS Rajamouli's 'Varanasi': MM Keeravani to spend five months composing background score for Mahesh Babu's epic - Report

Ace filmmaker SS Rajamouli and Oscar-winning music composer MM Keeravani share one of the most successful director-composer partnerships in Indian cinema. The musical genius is also working on SS Rajamouli’s biggest upcoming film which is the action time adventurer ‘Varanasi’ starring Mahesh Babu , Priyanka Chopra and Prithviraj Sukumaran . Latest buzz suggests that the ‘ Naatu Naatu ’ composer took over five months to compose the background score for the film.
As per a report by Deccan Chronicle, during his recent USA tour, MM Keeravani shared an update about the film’s music. He revealed that he will begin composing for Varanasi in September and spend nearly five months working on the background score.
According to Keeravani, the score is expected to be completed by January 2027. After that, the remaining post-production work will continue, with the final version of the film expected to be ready by April 2027.

In ‘RRR’, the song ‘Naatu Naatu’ composed by MM Keeravani became a global sensation and won the Academy Award for Best Original Song along with a Golden Globe Award.
About ‘Varanasi’Talking about the upcoming film, ‘Varanasi’, it is being mounted on a high scale which revolves around Rudra played by Mahesh Babu. He will be locking horns with Prithviraj Sukumaran as the main antagonist of the story Kumbha. Meanwhile, Priyanka Chopra gears up for her much awaited comeback with an India film, playing Mandakini.
It is set to release on August 7, 2027.
