The reality show Alliance has found itself at the centre of controversy after actor Gauahar Khan publicly called out Nikhil Chinappa for a remark she described as insensitive and sexist.
Gauahar, who has been closely following the show as her husband Zaid Darbar is one of the contestants, shared a video reacting strongly to Nikhil’s comment. The remark allegedly suggested that a woman contestant’s opinions could be influenced by menopause or hormonal changes, something Gauahar firmly pushed back against.
Calling out the assumption, Gauahar said, “Seriously, what do you mean? You’re assuming that I’m of a certain age, maybe going through menopause or pre-menopause, and that’s why I have those viewpoints. That is ridiculous. Just because ek aurat ko periods ho rahe honge, ya menopause ho raha hoga, isliye wo galat bol rahi hai?”
She further added, “Excuse me, I had a baby nine months ago. So clearly, I’m not dealing with menopause or perimenopause. Nikhil Chinappa, get your facts right, and please be sensitive when you put women into such categories.”
The issue stems from ongoing dynamics within Alliance, where contestants are navigating strategy, trust, and shifting alliances. Nikhil’s comment, reportedly made while discussing gameplay involving female contestants like Mini, was perceived as dismissing their perspectives by linking them to biological factors rather than their strategic thinking.
Before the episode aired, Gauahar also previously called out Mini in an Instagram story and said, “Whatever I say somehow turns out to be true. I don’t know how I will explain this to my husband, but here no brother-sister relationships are followed, it’s a game, and people are playing it really well.”
She further added, “I don’t know why Zaid can’t see that Mini is never going to be on his side. When it came to giving the diamond, she very strategically called one team the weakest and gave it to Nikhil’s team. During the task, she kept supporting Nikhil, telling him his towers were ready, asking him to bring the ball everything was about him. If you are the Ace, you should support everyone equally, but instead you are clearly favouring one side.”
