New Delhi: ActorRam Kapoor recently shared a deeply moving story on Lock Upp: Sach ya Sazaa, making all the inmates in the jail emotional. Kapoor revealed that he had supported his father, Anil Kapoor, to “plan his death” when his pancreatic cancer returned at age 73.
Since his father had already fought the illness before, he chose not to get treatment this time, and the actor said he backed his choice until the very end.
Ram Kapoor shares deeply personal memorySharing more about this moment on the show, the Kasam Se actor said, “I helped my father plan his death. His cancer relapsed during the Covid period. He called Gautami and told her that he wanted to talk to me. On the call, we discussed everything and, basically, he had decided that he didn’t wish to fight the disease anymore.”
“He wanted to go, but he was scared of doing it alone. He still didn’t want anyone to know, but he wanted me to be there, so he point-blank asked me, ‘Can you help me in dying?’ He managed to convince me that ki main nahi karunga to woh akele karenge (If won;’t do, he will do it himself), so he didn’t leave me with a choice,” he added.

Kapoor further shared that when his father went into the ICU, he remained right next to him, keeping the promise he had given him. “When he was admitted to the ICU, I was with him, and nobody knew that there was no treatment happening. He just wanted me to hold his hand and help him go, and I had promised him that I would do it. He was scared of being alone; he wasn’t scared of dying. He said he didn’t want anyone to cry at his funeral,” he shared.
Finishing the emotional story, Kapoor shared that the event had greatly impacted his family, mentioning his mother and sister still do not talk to him. “It has been more than five years. Everyone lives like a king, but he died like a king. Because of him, I saw death this close, and it’s nothing to me anymore,” he said.
When Ram Kapoor was molestedEarlier, the actor shared that he was molested while he was 13 years old and was studying in boarding school. He gave an account of what happened and said, “I was in my dorm with other students when a 10th-standard student was on my bed with me. We were having fun and banter. He touched me under the blanket, and there were almost 30-40 children around, so I froze. I could not do anything. He continued to do so, and I did not know how to react. I did not know what to do or not to do.”
