Fantasy Premier League is now live for the FPL 2026/27 season, and managers are already going through a long list of rule changes and interface improvements before finalising their Gameweek 1 squads.

This year, FPL is placing even greater emphasis on live engagement, data accuracy and ease of use for new players.

If you are trying to push up your rank in FPL 2026/27, it is just as important to understand these changes as it is to choose the right captain.

Live mini-league updates, a redesigned Bonus Points System and a new price-change prediction tool all have direct tactical value for FPL managers.

There are also quality-of-life updates, including new squad views and better auto-pick guidance for beginners, which quietly influence the overall FPL experience.

Most importantly, the popular chips are still in place, so the broad structure of FPL 2026/27 remains familiar even as the finer details change.

Key changes in FPL 2026/27

The biggest update is live scoring and mini-league movement during matches, with real-time rank, points and projected bonus, allowing FPL managers to follow the swings as games progress.

Projected bonus points now show up after 20 minutes of each match and keep adjusting through the game, making the Bonus Points System more transparent while still staying reactive.

The Bonus Points System itself has been redesigned: players are no longer punished for being tackled, centre-backs receive fewer BPS from clearances, blocks and interceptions, and goalkeepers get improved BPS for saves, especially those from inside the box and “big chances”.

These changes are meant to reduce overlap with defensive contribution (DEFCON) points and make attacking full-backs, keepers and creative players more competitive for bonus in FPL.

A new price-change prediction tool highlights which FPL players are likely to rise or fall at midnight based on transfer activity, giving managers a better pointer for early moves, even though changes are not guaranteed.

At the same time, Gameweek scores now “lock” at 09:00 UK time the morning after the final match, giving more time for Opta reviews and improving data accuracy for bonus and defensive contribution.

Lastly, double sets of chips (Wildcard, Free Hit, Triple Captain, Bench Boost) are still there, as are DEFCON points, so long-term FPL 2026/27 planning still centres on familiar chip strategy.
