Real Madrid’s talks with RB Leipzig have been going back and forth over the finishing line in recent days, but the deal has still not been completed.

Los Blancos are very close to striking an agreement with the German club over the teenage talent’s signing as they aim to strengthen the right wing and complete a formidable attacking trio.

Leipzig, however, are naturally standing firm for better financial terms — something they know Real Madrid can afford to pay thanks to Florentino Perez’s pre-election promise.

In contrast to the widespread reports claiming that Real Madrid have agreed on all the necessary terms for the Diomande transfer, Florian Plettenberg continues to say that the situation is not as positive as it has been made out to be from the outside.

The German journalist insists that the deal is still very much alive, and that Real Madrid are the favourites, but he dismisses the idea that there is any ‘final agreement’ between the two clubs.

The negotiations will therefore run into Wednesday, as no agreement could be reached on Tuesday, and the information has reportedly been confirmed by both club sources and the player’s camp.

At present, Leipzig are demanding a €120 million fee with a higher fixed amount than Real Madrid are offering.

Plettenberg goes further and explains the exact issue on which Real Madrid and Leipzig are currently divided, and it is indeed related to the variable fee structure.

The Bundesliga side view the variable clauses used by Real Madrid as ‘difficult-to-achieve’, and therefore misleading if they are to be treated as a variable bonus. That was the main concern and the reason why an agreement was not reached.

Talks will continue on Tuesday with the aim of finding a middle ground on that point, as Leipzig want a higher fixed amount and bonuses that are easier to achieve.

If everything goes according to plan, Diomande will sign for Real Madrid until 2031 and become Jose Mourinho’s starting right winger.

Given his profile, he is expected to be a valuable addition to the frontline alongside Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Jr. The coming days and hours will be crucial in determining whether the deal gets over the line.
