'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' early Twitter ReviewsCritics who attended the premiere took to X (formerly Twitter) to praise the film for its emotional storytelling, action sequences, plot twists and cast performances. Several have even called it the best live-action superhero film outing in years.
One reviewer wrote, "#SpiderManBrandNewDay is the MCU Spider-Man film I've always wanted. Bursting with sincerity and earnestness. Love & respect for Spidey mythos. Destin & crew perfectly understood that what makes Spidey relatable isn't that he's Superhuman but that he's super human. Cried so much."
Another reaction described the film as "a mixed bag" but still praised its emotional core. "#SpiderMan Brand New Day is a mixed bag. It evokes the very best and the very worst of Sam Raimi 's Spider-Man trilogy. The first 20 minutes are quintessential comic book Spidey and do for Spider-Man what the first 20 minutes of Matt Reeves ' The Batman did for Batman. The film explores loneliness among young adults with delicacy and emotion, and Tom Holland delivers yet another amazing performance as Peter Parker."
Another critic compared Tom Holland's performance to Tobey Maguire's acclaimed portrayal in Sam Raimi's second Spider-Man film, writing, "#spidermanbrandnewday is Tom Holland's Spidey at his absolute best… Peter's struggles here, in the vein of Tobey's in SM2, are as emotionally resonant as they have ever been. This is far and away his most personal journey. It also features the BEST action we have ever seen from any on-screen version of the character."
Another attendee added, "#SpidermanBrandNewDay is everything I hoped it would be! A tragic yet poetic odyssey about what it truly means to feel alone, only to realize you may not have to be alone…"
Another early reaction described the film as a more mature successor to its predecessor, writing, "SPIDER-MAN: BRAND NEW DAY is a much more cerebral followup than the crowd pleasing No Way Home. It's Tom Holland's best performance as Peter Parker and the best Spider-Man movie since Raimi's SPIDER-MAN 2. Also the costume finally looks incredible."
Another review read, "#SpiderManBrandNewDay is a spectacular love letter to Spider-Man as a character and the world surrounding him. Tom Holland, Zendaya and especially scene-stealer Sadie Sink blend together to make inarguably the best Spider-Man movie to date. The MCU is back and better than ever."
Still another praised the film, writing, "My flabber has been ghasted. I loved #SpiderManBrandNewDay! Destin Daniel Cretton and Tom Holland put their hearts and souls into this thing, and it pays off HUGE! This movie is going to be massive and we're going to be talking about it for a while. I was floored by how well everything is balanced - emotion, humor, action, practical vs visual effects, score, and the cinematography. This felt so handmade, even with some of the massive set pieces and is filled to the top with heart. This was absolutely worth the wait."
Hailing the emotional core of the film, another said, "Don't mind me. I'm just sitting here crying after watching #SpidermanBrandNewDay. It's a massive movie that balances like 5 different through lines in equal measure, each better than the last. It can feel a little overwhelming but it all comes together so beautifully it works."
Several critics also singled out Sadie Sink, whose role has been kept under wraps. Jonathan Sim wrote, "#SpiderManBrandNewDay is a FANTASTIC experience. It combines the heart of Peter Parker with the thrills of Spider-Man action. The swinging scenes are the BEST in years. A gorgeously shot film with a powerful message. Sadie Sink is a standout. The street-level Spider-Man we've been waiting for. Destin Daniel Cretton UPGRADES this series more than you can imagine."
'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' cast and release dateDirected by Destin Daniel Cretton, the film has Holland reprising his role alongside Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Sadie Sink, Jon Bernthal, Mark Ruffalo, Michael Mando, and Tramell Tillman in pivotal roles.
