Even before the discussion on the Examination Amendment Bill could begin in the state assembly, a heated argument erupted. The opposition disrupted proceedings demanding an immediate discussion on the alleged beating of students, preventing the scheduled legislative work from proceeding.
As soon as the House began, opposition members raised issues to students and demanded a discussion. During this, the atmosphere in the House became heated with sloganeering and protests. According to the government’s agenda, the Examination Amendment Bill was scheduled for discussion, but due to continued protests, the discussion could not begin.
The Speaker attempted to defuse the situation, urging all parties to find a solution based on mutual consent and in accordance with parliamentary traditions, so that the House could function smoothly. He also indicated that disrupting important legislative work was not conducive to the democratic process.
Ruling party leaders accused the opposition of attempting to obstruct legislative action to the public interest. They argued that the House is the best forum for discussion and dialogue, but repeated disruptions are hampering decision-making on important issues.
The opposition, meanwhile, maintained its stance, insisting that student issues must be discussed first. However, the ongoing deadlock prevented debate on the Examination Amendment Bill from commencing, and the House’s scheduled agenda was affected.
Political experts believe that if consensus is not reached between the opposition and the government, House proceedings could continue to be disrupted in the coming days, potentially delaying discussion and decisions on many important public issues.
