Union Minister Giriraj Singh has strongly criticised the opposition. He said, “Rahul Gandhi, Akhilesh Yadav and other opposition parties have held the House hostage. They have no sympathy for the students. When this issue was first raised, around May 3, the Prime Minister immediately ensured that the exams were conducted and the results were declared.

Giriraj said, “No one’s year has been wasted. After this, a new law is being brought, a fast-track system is being created and the promises made to the student representatives have been fulfilled. When this incident first happened and the Prime Minister was arranging the students’ exams, these leaders were on a foreign tour. The students never considered them as their representatives. I don’t understand why they are making so much fuss now.”

Regarding reports of police firing on student protests during the Bihar bandh, he said, “The Bihar government acted within its jurisdiction. Although there were suspensions, a deeper look reveals that many people who were not students were also deeply involved in it.”

Giriraj said, “I remember an incident when a bomb was thrown at a police station; such non-students entered the protest and defamed the students – which the students themselves did not notice. Now many such things are coming to light. Yet, the Bihar government took the steps that the people were demanding.”
