Apple set a new record by crossing the market cap of $ 5 trillion during trading on Tuesday. This is the second company in the world to do so. With this achievement, Apple has again taken the title of the most valuable company, leaving Nvidia behind.

New Delhi [भारत]July 29 (ANI): Apple crossed the historic US$5 trillion market capitalization mark during trading on Tuesday, making it the second publicly listed company in the world to achieve the milestone. The feat comes just a day after the iPhone maker overtook Nvidia to regain its position as the world's most valuable publicly traded company.

Apple's record breaking performance

According to market data, Apple shares reached an intraday high of US$342.89, bringing the company's market valuation to about US$5.036 trillion. However, the stock lost some of its gains later in the trading session and closed at US$340.08 per share. At the close, Apple's market capitalization stood at approximately US$4.99 trillion, just short of the US$5 trillion threshold.

Narrowly surpassing this historical valuation reflects strong investor confidence in the technology giant, which has seen consistent buying interest in recent months. Apple's stock is up nearly 25 percent so far this year, outperforming many other mega-cap technology companies amid continued optimism over its product ecosystem, services business and artificial intelligence initiatives.

Race for top spot with Nvidia

Apple and Nvidia are competing for the top spot among the world's most valuable listed companies, with both companies seeing significant gains in market capitalization over the past year. Earlier this month, Apple regained its status as the world's most valuable publicly traded company, surpassing Nvidia in market valuation.

Nvidia had held the top spot since June 2025, driven by growing demand for its artificial intelligence chips and the continued expansion of AI infrastructure around the world.

Apple's latest valuation milestone comes ahead of its scheduled third-quarter financial earnings announcement on Thursday, July 30.

Nvidia: joins the 5 trillion dollar club

Nvidia remains only the second company to cross the US$5 trillion market capitalization mark. The AI chipmaker first achieved this feat in October, becoming the first company in history to reach this valuation level. The company's rapid growth has been driven by increasing global demand for its graphics processing units (GPUs), which power most advanced artificial intelligence models and data center workloads.

During Tuesday's trading session, Nvidia shares were last up 0.53 per cent at US$197.63, giving the semiconductor giant a market capitalization of about US$4.77 trillion. Despite slipping behind Apple in overall valuation, Nvidia remains among the world's largest and most influential technology companies, and investors remain optimistic about long-term demand for AI computing infrastructure.
