Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut attacked the Shinde government and said that 2000 schools have been closed in Maharashtra. He described the education department as a 'den of bribery' and alleged scams worth crores and continuous paper leaks happening right under the CM's nose.
New Delhi [भारत]July 29 (ANI): Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut on Wednesday launched a scathing attack on the Eknath Shinde-led Maharashtra government and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He alleged systemic failure in the state's education sector and widespread corruption within the department. Speaking to reporters, the Rajya Sabha MP claimed that more than 2000 government schools have been closed in Maharashtra, which he termed a blow to the state's historical legacy as a leader in education. Raut said, "2000 government schools have been closed in Maharashtra. This shows how serious this government - whether in Maharashtra or anywhere in the country where BJP is in power - is about an important subject like education."
'Education department has become a den of bribery'
Taking aim at the functioning of the state administration, the Shiv Sena (UBT) leader alleged that the education department has become a den of bribery. He alleged, "Maharashtra has historically been a leading state in education, yet today 2000 schools are closed... Such is the situation in Maharashtra. In the state education department, be it related to school affiliation or any other matter, not a single file moves forward without exchange of money."
'Scam worth crores right under CM's nose'
Raut further claimed that a "scam worth crores" was happening right under the Chief Minister's nose and expressed concern over the frequent incidents of paper leaks in the state. He said, "A scam worth crores is happening in the education department right under the nose of the Chief Minister...Examination papers are being leaked every day in Maharashtra."
Allegations of involvement of BJP workers in NEET scam
Directly linking the ruling BJP to the recent NEET-UG irregularities that have sparked nationwide protests, Raut alleged that the main players in the controversy have political connections. "More than half of those responsible for NEET irregularities are from Pune, Latur and other parts of Maharashtra, and they are all BJP workers," the Shiv Sena (UBT) leader claimed. (ANI)
