Before Spider-Man: Brand New Day hit cinemas in the country, the CBFC trimmed the couple's kissing scenes - along with a few offensive words to grant the film a UA 13+ certificate. It's not the first superhero romance to get this treatment. Last year, Superman too was asked to trim its kissing scenes to secure the UA13+ certification.
Confirming the modifications, an I&B official (Ministry of Information and Broadcasting) said, "The film was applied for certification under the UA 13+ category, which means that children below the age of 13 may require parental guidance while viewing the film. As per the prescribed certification process, the Examining Committee recommended necessary modifications to make the film suitable for the sought certification category."
As per the CBFC certificate record, the kissing visuals removed from Spider-Man: Brand New Day are total of eight seconds.
