Strange weather patterns continue in some parts of Kashmir Valley. There have been reports of cloud burst and flash floods at two places in South and North Kashmir, causing damage to property. However, it is a matter of gratitude that no one died in these incidents.

The first cloud burst in Dardgund of Devsar area of ​​Kulgam district of South Kashmir, while the second cloud burst in Nagmarg area of ​​Bandipora district of North Kashmir. This caused sudden flooding in many villages in low-lying areas and spread panic among the people.

According to officials, low intensity cloud burst in the upper areas of Dardgund in Devsar area of ​​Kulgam caused sudden flood and a strong flow of muddy water started flowing towards the lower areas through Nala Sadhnag.

The fast-flowing flood washed away two cattle sheds and water entered several houses in Dardgund, causing panic among the locals. Strong water entered a house, causing it to sink and trapping a family inside.

Officials said that as soon as information about the incident was received, State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) personnel started the rescue operation and took all the family members to a safe place. Meanwhile, another SDRF team removed the blockage in the drain, thereby normalizing the water flow and saving the surrounding residential areas from further damage or danger.

Local people say that the intensity of the cloud burst was relatively low, but the sudden rise of water in the drain submerged the surrounding areas; Officials are assessing the damage and monitoring the situation.

On Tuesday, a cloud burst also occurred in Nagmarg area of ​​Bandipora district of North Kashmir, causing sudden flooding in many villages in low-lying areas and spreading panic among the people. The sudden rise of water from upper areas brought huge amounts of muddy water and debris downstream, affecting lower areas and disrupting normal life in villages.

Residents said that after the cloud burst, the water level rose rapidly and flood water entered low-lying areas, posing a threat to many residential areas and local infrastructure.

The incident occurred amid heavy rains in Jammu and Kashmir, which has increased the risk of flash floods, landslides and damage to roads and other infrastructure in sensitive hilly areas. Officials are taking stock of the damage and situation caused by the sudden flood. Also, the Meteorological Department has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall over the entire J&K region in the next 48 hours, hence people living in the risk areas have been advised to remain cautious and avoid going near swollen rivers, drains and other water bodies.
