Global icon Priyanka Chopra is marking her much awaited comeback to the Indian film industry with SS Rajamouli upcoming grand project ‘Varanasi’ starring alongside Mahesh Babu. As the film is primarily being shot in Telugu, the actress has already shared that she has been practicing the language. However, latest reports suggest the makers are yet to make any decision regarding PeeCee dubbing the film in Telugu.
Priyanka Chopra says she is practising hardEarlier back in November, 2025, Priyanka Chopra during an AMA session on X, she shared an answer after a fan asked her about shooting in a new language. She replied, “It’s obviously not my first language but Rajamouli sir has been so helpful. I will be able to deliver my Telugu lines and live up to your expectations”.
Additionally, on Instagram when a fan asked her directly whether she would be dubbing for her role in the film, she said, “Yes I am. Practicing hard.”
Producer says no decision has been takenNow, according to a report by Variety India, Even though Priyanka has expressed her interest in dubbing, producer KL Narayana said the team has not made a final decision yet. “No decision has been taken yet. While shooting the Telugu version, she speaks in a mix of English, Hindi and Telugu. But it is too soon to discuss this subject. We also plan to release the film in other languages. We will only take a call on her dubbing closer to the release date,” he said.
About ‘Varanasi’Speaking about ‘Varanasi’, it is a time-travel adventure drama set in the holy city of Varanasi. The story revolves around the city facing the arrival of a massive asteroid and the danger it brings. Mahesh Babu plays the lead as Rudra and Priyanka Chopra is the female lead as Mandakini. Meanwhile, Prithviraj Sukumaran plays the main antagonist Kumbha.
'Varanasi' is currently scheduled to release in theatres on April 7, 2027. The film is reportedly being made on a budget of Rs 1,300-1400 crore.
