Akansha Ranjan may have had a packed year with back-to-back releases and her recent marriage to filmmaker Sharan Sharma , but the actress says her priorities remain unchanged. Akansha says she’s in no hurry to sign projects simply because they are big-ticket ventures.

“It (a project) has to give me something. It has to make me feel creatively excited. It can be a small part, a small film, anything. But am I gaining something from it? Am I learning from a new director? Am I meeting great co-actors? Am I part of a project people love? I’m in no rush to do some big-budget film where people walk out asking, ‘What was that character?’ I don’t want to go to the set just to dance, smile and give beauty shots. I know I have way more potential and way more creativity bubbling inside me. Slowly but surely, I want to work with people who see that. Even if they say they can’t give me a huge opportunity right now but want me to do an important part because they believe in me, I’ll happily do it. I’m trying to build credibility. I want my repertoire to be filled with credible work,” the Gram Shikitsalay actress says.



“I’m still hustling every single day”
Akansha, recently seen in Ikka, admits she feels the pressure of the industry’s constant race. “That feeling of lagging behind never dies. You have to learn how to balance it. It should motivate you, and it does motivate me. I hustle, audition, call people and pursue work. But that fear hasn’t become a deciding factor in my career. I know where to draw the line,” she says, adding, “Decisions cannot be made in the race to feel superior in that artificial game of magazine covers or paparazzi spotting. Maybe those things give you more followers, but are they creatively what I want in the long run? Not at all. I’m not here to become famous. I’m really here to show people that I can act. If that takes longer, then so be it. But I’m actively pursuing it every single day.”
