As per Tuttosport, Juventus midfielder Douglas Luiz ‘dreams’ of joining Manchester United this summer.

The 28-year-old was sent on loan to Nottingham Forest last summer, but that arrangement was cut short after he found it difficult to get regular minutes.

Luiz then returned to Aston Villa on loan and made 20 appearances, including the Europa League final victory over Freiburg.

Even so, the Midlands side chose not to use the option to sign the midfielder permanently.

Luiz, who still has three years left on his contract, is willing to remain at the Serie A club, but he wants a guarantee of playing time, something that does not seem likely at this stage.

His preferred move is a transfer to United, who are aiming to bring in a third midfielder after signing Youri Tielemans and Andrey Santos.

Casemiro has departed the club on a free transfer, while Manuel Ugarte suffered a major injury during Uruguay’s World Cup campaign.

United were previously linked with Luiz last summer, but no deal went through. It is still not clear whether they will revive their interest in the Brazilian.

They had wanted to sign Alex Scott earlier this summer, but it seems they have moved away from that pursuit because of Bournemouth’s steep asking price.

The Red Devils have now turned their attention to Roma’s Manu Kone, who is a less expensive option.

Kone has already given the green signal to join United, but the two clubs are yet to settle on a fee with Roma.
