Foreign experts also involved in the investigation
AAIB clarified to the court that this is not merely an internal investigation of DGCA officials. Under international aviation rules, experts and authorized representatives of the countries whose citizens were killed in the accident are also part of the investigation process. A total of 260 people lost their lives in the accident.

During the hearing, senior advocate Prashant Bhushan, appearing for the petitioner, raised questions on the speed and nature of the investigation, saying that the investigation was taking a lot of time and said that it should be conducted only by DGCA officials.

Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, appearing for AAIB, termed these allegations as false and said that the investigation is being conducted as per air accident investigation rules and international conventions. He told the court that foreign experts are also involved in the entire process and all necessary standards are being followed. He also assured that the final investigation report will be presented before the Supreme Court in a sealed cover by October.
