Munawar Faruqui says last two months have been full of daddy duties and his return to the standup space with his latest special Dhandho. Having experienced fatherhood once before—the comedian-actor has an eight-year-old son, Mikhail—he admits this chapter has touched him in a very different way.


"Honestly I never waited for something like this in my life. I had experienced a similar feeling around 7–8 years ago, but I'm really glad I got to feel it once again. This time, it felt very different," he says.


Munawar and wife Mehzabeen welcomed their baby girl , Barirah, on May 1, a moment they had long hoped for. "We truly wanted a a daughter and when we realised we indeed had a daughter, our happiness just doubled. That feeling is very difficult to describe," he shares.


Recalling the first time he held his newborn, Munawar recalls, "You feel so happy that you want to say something, but words just don't come out. Your hands are shaking, but at the same time, you feel confident and emotional to hold her. It's a very mixed feeling, but definitely the best feeling."


The last two months have been all about "gratitude" for him. Meanwhile, on the work front, First Copy actor's return to the standup stage did make a buzz. Talking about his standup show, where he narrates his jail term in a humorous way, he shares, "Those 37 days were supposed to end my journey as a comedian. Instead, they became the reason I wrote one of my most personal shows. I didn't make jokes about anyone else; I made myself the punchline because humour became my way of surviving. The chapter that brought me the biggest loss eventually gave me my biggest comeback. Sometimes, life doesn't change because your circumstances do; it changes because you decide to own your story."
