New Delhi: India will look to continue its strong run at the Commonwealth Games 2026 on Thursday, July 30. India added three medals, including a gold, to its tally after an impressive show on Day 7 of the Games on Wednesday. Dilip Mahadu Gavit and Mohammed Basil won gold and silver, respectively in a landmark one-two finish in the men’s 100m T47 event.

Murali Sreeshankar, on the other hand, bagged his second consecutive silver medal at the Commonwealth Games by finishing second on the podium in the men’s long jump final on Wednesday. Dilip secured India’s third gold medal at the ongoing Commonwealth Games as the country’s overall tally increased to 15 medals.

Neeraj Chopra to begin his campaign in Glasgow

On Thursday, India will hope to build on the strong show by adding more medals to its tally. All eyes will be on two-time Olympic medallist Neeraj Chopra, who will begin his campaign in men’s javelin throw. Neeraj will be in action in the qualifying round alongside India’s Rohit Yadav and Yash Vir Singh.

Those breaching the 84m mark will directly qualify for the men’s javelin final. Neeraj has not had the best of seasons so far but is expected to comfortably secure direct qualification into the final. India’s Tejaswin Shankar will be in action in five events on Thursday, with the focus firmly on his fitness.

Shankar picked up an injury during the long jump event earlier this week and it remains to be seen if he will be able to get through all decathlon events. Several Indian athletes will be in medal contention across multiple events on July 30. Martina Devi Maibam and Lovepreet Singh will compete in weightlifting finals in their respective categories and will look to add to India’s tally.

Meanwhile, Tajinderpal Singh Toor will be in action in the men’s shot put final. He remains a strong contender for a medal and will be joined by compatriot Samardeep Singh Gill in the final. Parul Chaudhary will be competing in the women’s 5000m final, while Seema Kaliramna and Nidhi Rani will feature in the women’s discus throw final.
