Glasgow [Scotland], July 30: Indian runner Gulveer Singh expressed his unwavering ambition to secure a medal at the upcoming Commonwealth Games 2026, following his impressive silver finish in the men's 10,000m event.

In a conversation with a news outlet, Gulveer attributed his success to the rigorous training regimen and the invaluable support from his coach. He emphasized the importance of adhering to the training plan, stating, “With the dedication I’ve shown, I believe we can bring home a medal. That’s my sole focus... We strictly follow our coach’s directives. If he instructs us to complete a specific distance, like ten kilometers, we do just that without deviation.”

Gulveer made history by becoming the first Indian athlete to earn a medal in the men’s 10,000m at the Commonwealth Games, achieving this remarkable feat during the 2026 event in Glasgow on Tuesday night.

He clocked an impressive time of 27:49.78, executing a well-planned race strategy before launching a powerful sprint in the final lap to secure second place, finishing behind Australia’s Ky Robinson. David Mullarkey from the Isle of Man took home the bronze, while traditional powerhouses Kenya and Uganda surprisingly missed out on the podium, as reported by ESPN.
