Ferrari Luce EV reportedly achieved its first-year sales target in only two months

According to a fresh report by the Financial Times, the new and somewhat controversial Ferrari Luce EV has already met its sales objective for the first year of production.

Ferrari has not officially revealed any public sales target, but the FT, citing “two people with knowledge of the matter,” says the goal for the first year of sales is “just under 500 units.” That number applies to global sales, which means only a portion of it would account for U.S. deliveries. To put that into context, Ferrari sold 13,640 cars worldwide in 2025; if close to 500 Luces are sold in the first year, the EV would represent roughly 3-4 percent of Maranello’s total sales volume. Ferrari, however, does not provide a detailed model-by-model sales split.

It already appears that some markets will receive more Luces than others, because the same Financial Times report says Ferrari reached its target “on the back of strong demand from China.” It is hardly surprising that EV-friendly China would contribute a significant share of demand, but the report also mentions sources claiming that feedback from U.S. tech entrepreneurs has been positive as well. It is likely that demand for the Jony Ive-designed Ferrari is concentrated in areas such as Southern California and Silicon Valley.

The first-year target of 500 Luces is reportedly only the beginning. Ferrari is said to be aiming for annual Luce sales of 600 units as a longer-term objective through 2030, which would translate to around 2500 vehicles in total finding buyers over the next roughly four years. If the report is correct, Ferrari appears to have a solid chance of meeting those goals, given that the first 500 or so cars reportedly found interested buyers within two months of the reveal.

Even though its body style could, in theory, give it broader appeal, Ferrari is not positioning the Luce as a high-volume model. Its starting price of more than $600,000 makes that clear from the outset, and these sales targets seem to confirm that Ferrari is taking a cautious, small-scale approach with its controversial EV.

For all the details and images of the Luce, the original reveal coverage provides a fuller look. And for those wondering why it has this particular design, there is also an explanation behind its styling.
