Vijay Sethupathi and Sai Pallavi , who are in town shooting for a Mani Ratnam film , have had a busy weekend. First, they wrapped up a two-day shoot at the historic Belgachia Rajbari around 6pm on Saturday and then pulled an all-nighter on the Howrah Bridge that ended at dawn on Sunday. On Sunday afternoon, the team shot at the historic Jagannath Ghat.
According to reports, this is the first leg of the film’s shoot and will last around 10 days. The team will then head to Puducherry for the next schedule. The entire shoot is expected to be wrapped up in around 40 days. The film, which stars Vijay and Sai in lead roles, is a romantic drama, and in the Kolkata leg of the shoot, Vijay can be seen without his trademark beard, sporting a much younger, clean-shaven look. According to sources, AR Rahman will be scoring the music for the film.

Vijay will next be seen in Slum Dog: 33 Temple Road, which also stars Tabu and Samyukta, while Sai is part of Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana movies alongside Ranbir Kapoor and Yash.
An enduring relationship

This isn’t Mani Ratnam’s first shoot in Kolkata. He filmed much of his 2004 political drama Yuva in the city, with key sequences and the climax centred around Kolkata landmarks, particularly the Vidyasagar Setu and Howrah Bridge, featuring Abhishek Bachchan, Ajay Devgn & Vivek Oberoi. He returned in 2010 to shoot parts of Raavan with Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.
