Vijay Deverakonda gets emotional while celebrating a decade in cinema: 'Something feels very strange about reading that 10 years ago we all met in the theatres'

Actor Vijay Deverakonda has marked a major milestone in his career, completing 10 years as a leading man in Telugu cinema . Looking back on the journey that began with ' Pelli Choopulu ', the actor shared an emotional note filled with gratitude, nostalgia, and hope for the future. He also admitted that while life has changed over the years, his passion for filmmaking remains stronger than ever.
Vijay looks back at the film that changed his lifeTaking to X, Vijay shared a collection of behind-the-scenes photographs and videos from the making of 'Pelli Choopulu', which released on July 29, 2016. One of the clips showed the actor arriving on set at around 6:30 am for a 7 am shoot, recalling the early days of his career.
Expressing his emotions, he wrote, "10 years. Something feels very strange about reading that 10 years ago we all met in the theatres :) that we laughed and fell in love and formed a bond that keeps us together till today. Something feels very heavy."
"That day meant to a young me more than anything that has occured since. It gave a young free rebellious boy an acknowledgment and strength.. That he wasn’t a fool to dream or believe."
The actor also expressed heartfelt gratitude to filmmaker Tharun Bhascker, remembering their collaboration with affection.
"I love you all, my Telugu audience dearly. But more than anything Tharun. I miss you so much man.. and love you so dearly. I am so proud of you and blessed to have made this film with you and you are one precious soul."
He further thanked the entire cast and crew of the National Award-winning film for being part of a life-changing journey.
Reflecting on how life has evolved over the past decade, Vijay admitted that he no longer feels like the carefree young man who entered the industry. "Today i am no longer the free young boy. Life is full ❤️ but i feel the weight on my shoulders.. i feel different."
He concluded his note by promising to continue creating meaningful work. "From here on everything i do is all heart because no other metric matters. From my heart to all my directors, from my heart to all my RWDY boys and girls, to my family and friends, to my audience."
From 'Pelli Choopulu' to stardomFollowing the success of 'Pelli Choopulu', Vijay Deverakonda established himself as one of Telugu cinema's biggest stars with ' Arjun Reddy '. He later featured in acclaimed films such as 'Mahanati', 'Geetha Govindam', and 'Dear Comrade'. His recent releases, 'The Family Star' (2024) and 'Kingdom' (2025), did not perform as expected at the box office. He also made cameo appearances in 'Kalki 2898 AD' and 'Sing Geetham'.
On the work front, Vijay is currently filming ' Rowdy Janardhana ', directed by Ravi Kiran Kola and co-starring Keerthy Suresh . He also has Rahul Sankrithyan's 'Ranabaali', in which he will share screen space with Rashmika Mandanna.
