  • In cows and buffaloes, stress directly affects milk production and behavior by causing mood swings.
  • Milk production is good if animals are handled lovingly while keeping a quiet environment during milking.
  • Keeping the fodder time constant and giving plenty of water keeps the animals healthy.

Like humans, animals experience emotions, stress and mood swings. Often a dairy cow or buffalo suddenly stops milking, kicks or does not eat feed. Farmers or herders consider this to be just an animal's precociousness, but it can actually be a sign of their 'mood swings' or physical-psychological discomfort. So it is very important to take care of some special things while removing edge and feeding.

1. Care to be taken while sharpening

  • Peaceful and Serene Environment: The sharpening area should be clean, dry and quiet. There, loud noises, commotion or the presence of strangers can upset the animals.
  • Regular Time and Person: Cows and buffaloes are used to one person and one time. A sudden sharper or a change in time can cause the animals to become stressed and withhold milk.
  • Handling with love: Tranquilize the animal by running your hand over the back or back joint before removing the edge. Hitting or yelling creates fear in them, which stops the release of oxytocin (the milk-letting hormone).

Also, sometimes cows only lick each udder once. Therefore, the daily mood and nature of cows and buffaloes should be observed and prepared for cutting edge.

2. Care to be taken in feeding and routine

  • Avoid sudden changes in diet: A sudden change in the type or timing of fodder can upset the animal's digestion and upset its mood. Green and dry fodder should be mixed properly.
  • Clean and cold water: Buffaloes that are thirsty or suffering from heat become more irritable. They should have access to clean and cold water 24 hours a day.
  • Climate and Comfort: Animals become restless due to excessive heat, pest of flies or mosquitoes. Care should be taken to ensure proper ventilation in the barn and cleanliness in the shed.
