Parents are advised to complete the application in a timely manner rather than waiting for the deadline. It is worth noting that Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas are among the country’s premier government residential schools, offering students quality education along with free hostel accommodation, meals, books, uniforms, and other essential amenities. Consequently, hundreds of thousands of students appear for this entrance exam every year.

Admission to 665 Navodaya Vidyalayas Nationwide

This selection process facilitates admission to Class 6 seats in 665 Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas across the country. Students must qualify in the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Selection Test. Subsequently, the merit list preparation, document verification, and final admission procedures will be carried out.

Who Can Apply?

Students applying for Class 6 admission must meet specific eligibility criteria. The child must be studying in Class 5 during the 2026-27 academic session. They must be enrolled in a government-aided or recognized school. The student must be studying in a school located in the same district where they seek admission to the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya. The candidate’s date of birth must fall between May 1, 2015, and July 31, 2017. Applications can only be submitted for the Navodaya Vidyalaya located in the district where the student is currently pursuing Class 5 studies. Meanwhile, the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti has made this admission process completely free of charge; no application fee will be charged to candidates from any category.

What will be asked in the exam?

The Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya selection test will consist of objective-type questions. It will assess the students’ intellectual capacity and learning aptitude. The exam will primarily comprise three sections: Mental Ability Test, Arithmetic Test, and Language Test.

Admissions for Class 11 are also underway in Bihar

Offline applications are being accepted for vacant Class 11 seats at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Gaya-2, located in Bajora, Gaya district, Bihar. Approximately 25 seats in the Commerce stream are vacant. Students who have secured 60% or higher marks in Class 10 from a recognized board this year, and whose date of birth falls between June 1, 2009, and July 31, 2011, are eligible to apply. Students from any district in Bihar are eligible for this admission, and the ‘on-the-spot’ admission process is currently ongoing.
