DU St. Stephen's College: St. Stephen's College, affiliated with Delhi University, has implemented a new dress code for students at the start of the new academic session. The college administration has banned students from wearing shorts in areas such as classrooms, tutorial rooms, laboratories, the chapel, the assembly hall, the library, and the dining hall.
Directives have also been issued regarding a smoke-free campus, cleanliness, and the mandatory carrying of ID cards. Guidelines issued by Principal Prof. Susen Elias state that these rules must be strictly adhered to.
Students have begun to raise objections to this dress code. They allege that the college is interfering with their choice of clothing. While some describe this as "moral policing," others argue that the rule will adversely affect athletes, who typically arrive in shorts for practice. NSUI National President Vinod Jakhar has objected to the college's decision, terming it an assault on students' personal freedom and constitutional rights.
