Arunachal Pradesh Trade and Commerce Minister Nyato Dukam on Thursday relaunched the Indo-Myanmar Border Haat

Itanagar, July 31: Arunachal Pradesh's Trade and Commerce Minister, Nyato Dukam, has officially relaunched the Indo-Myanmar Border Haat at Pangsau Pass in Nampong, marking a significant step towards revitalizing trade relations between the two nations.

During his address, the minister underscored the essential role of trade in fostering economic development in the region. He called upon local communities, traders, and administrative bodies to engage actively in making border trade a reliable source of income.

Dukam also highlighted the historical and strategic importance of Pangsau Pass, revealing plans for a proposed Land Port at Nampong. This initiative aims to enhance cross-border connectivity, promote trade, and create more economic opportunities in the area.

“We envision the border haat as a dynamic hub of economic activity that will benefit local traders and strengthen interpersonal connections across the border,” he stated.

The inauguration was attended by various dignitaries, including MLA Laisam Simai, Trade and Commerce Adviser Dr. Mohesh Chai, and senior officials from civil and security sectors. Additionally, a delegation from Myanmar, which included the town chairman of Pangsau, representatives from the Myanmar army and police, and members of local committees, participated in the event, showcasing a mutual commitment to enhancing bilateral trade.

The reopening of the Indo-Myanmar Border Haat is anticipated to improve local livelihoods, encourage cultural exchanges, and facilitate increased commercial interactions between the communities on both sides of the border.
