New Delhi: Ducati has filed a design patent in India for the updated Monster. The motorcycle was revealed worldwide last October. Autocar India had reported it was likely to be launched in India in 2026. The newest patent filing hints Ducati is close to bringing the updated Monster to the Indian market as well.

The 2026 Ducati Monster comes with a major styling overhaul compared with its predecessor. The biggest change will be a return to the model’s traditional muscular fuel tank. Ducati has also integrated vent-type elements into the redesigned tank, drawing inspiration from the second-generation Monster. The headlamp has been updated with a round DRL, while the bike now features dynamic indicators at both ends.

For the new Monster, Ducati has given the bike an 890cc V2 engine, which also powers the Panigale V2, Streetfighter V2 and Multistrada V2. In the Monster, the engine makes 111hp at 9,000rpm and 91.1Nm at 7,250rpm. A variable intake valve timing system helps broaden the torque delivery and is mated with a 6-speed gearbox and even gets a two-way quickshifter. 

Ducati has also moved away from its Desmodromic valve system, resulting in a much longer valve-clearance inspection interval of 45,000km.

The bike retains Ducati’s aluminium monocoque chassis, with the lightweight frame attached directly to the cylinder heads and a technopolymer trellis-style subframe at the rear. Suspension is provided by a Showa USD fork at the front and a preload-adjustable monoshock at the rear. Braking hardware comprises twin Brembo front callipers working with 320mm discs. Another update is the new 5-inch TFT instrument display, replacing the outgoing bike’s 4.2-inch unit.

Ducati already sells several of its latest global models in India, including the Multistrada V2, Streetfighter V2 S and Panigale V2 S. The latest patent filing could therefore indicate that the updated Monster may be among the brand’s next new launches for the Indian market.
