Sheikh Hamdan visits Bahrain, attends GCC joint military drills

Bahrain’s King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa received Dubai Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, in Manama during Sheikh Hamdan’s visit to the Kingdom.

The meeting was attended by Lieutenant General Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, National Security Adviser and Commander of the Royal Guard, and Brigadier General Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Commander of Special Operations of the Royal Guard.

Sheikh Hamdan attended the joint military exercise “Bahrain Shield”, hosted by the Bahrain Defence Force with the participation of the Mohamed bin Zayed Squadron, armed forces from GCC member states and the Peninsula Shield Force.

The exercise aims to strengthen military cooperation, coordination and integration among GCC armed forces through operational scenarios and field exercises designed to enhance combat readiness, exchange expertise and strengthen command and control capabilities.

King Hamad and Sheikh Hamdan were briefed on the progress of the exercise and its various stages, including integrated training that demonstrated the efficiency and professionalism of participating forces and highlighted the strength of defence cooperation among GCC states.

Sheikh Hamdan was accompanied by Omar bin Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Lieutenant General Issa Saif bin Aboula Al Mazrouei, Chief of Staff of the UAE Armed Forces, and a number of senior Ministry of Defence officers.
