On Friday, heavy rainfall in various regions of Jammu and Kashmir resulted in flash floods in certain areas. The meteorological department has predicted light to moderate rain in several locations over the next 24 hours, according to officials.
Throughout the night, most areas in Kashmir experienced continuous rainfall, which persisted into Friday morning. Significant rainfall was recorded in regions such as Budgam, Baramulla, and Bandipora. Officials reported that the heavy downpour led to sudden flooding in Baramulla and Bandipora districts.
Fortunately, there have been no reported casualties. In the Sadrakoot Bala area of Bandipora district, the intense rain caused flash floods that impacted roads and a government school. The government primary school in Gani Mohalla, Malpora, was inundated with dirty rainwater, damaging the mats laid out in classrooms and leading to the suspension of classes.
In Baramulla, flash floods also occurred in the Brainer area of Sopore, but there have been no reports of property damage. The administration is closely monitoring the situation in these areas. The meteorological department has reiterated its forecast of light to moderate rain in several locations over the next 24 hours.
Additionally, the department has indicated that light to moderate rain, along with occasional thunderstorms, is expected in some areas until August 4, with brief periods of heavy rainfall in certain locations.
