Shahzad Poonawala was known as one of the BJP’s most prominent faces and prime-time spokespersons. However, the party has yet to issue an official statement regarding this matter, according to media reports on Friday.

BJP leader Shehzad Poonawala has removed the title “National Spokesperson, BJP” from his X bio, sparking speculation that he may be leaving politics. Poonawala also reposted clips from old interviews in which he talks about considering leaving active politics. However, the 38-year-old leader has not explicitly stated whether he has decided to leave the BJP and active politics.

On Thursday, he shared a screenshot of his updated X bio, which read, “Religion: Islam, Culture: Hindu, Ideology: Indian. Author: The Journey of GST. Lifelong follower of PM Narendra Modi.” The caption simply read, “My updated bio.”

Shahzad Poonawala is one of the most vocal spokespersons for the BJP. He is a lawyer and civil rights activist by profession. Shahzad Poonawala began his political career with the Congress party.

However, he came into the limelight in 2017 when he publicly rebelled against the party’s internal election process, alleging that it was “rigged” to install Rahul Gandhi as president.
