Monsoon Alert – Warning Heavy Rainfall, thunderstorms & lightning for 12 States Over Next 7 Days,

Monsoon Alert: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert for heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds across several parts of the country for the next five days, up to August 6. While the rainfall appears to be bringing some relief, flood-like conditions have developed in certain states due to continuous downpours. Alerts for heavy rain have been issued for states spanning North, Northeast, West, Central, and South India.

A low-pressure system persists over West Vidarbha and adjoining South Madhya Pradesh. Consequently, warnings for very heavy rainfall have been issued for isolated areas in Gujarat (on July 31 and August 1) and Madhya Maharashtra (on July 31). Heavy Rain Alert for North India

According to the IMD, heavy rainfall alerts have been issued for several areas in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Jammu & Kashmir-Ladakh between July 31 and August 6. Strong winds at 30–40 kmph are likely during this period. The Meteorological Department has also warned of potential lightning strikes and thunderstorms. Himachal Pradesh is facing the worst impact of the rainfall.

Havoc Caused by Heavy Rain in Manali

Torrential rain has wreaked havoc in Manali, Himachal Pradesh. The heavy downpour triggered sudden flood-like conditions, causing damage to apple orchards.

Rain Expected in Delhi and Punjab

The Meteorological Department has issued an alert for heavy rainfall in Haryana, Punjab, Chandigarh, and Delhi from July 31 to August 5. Meanwhile, heavy rain is forecast for Western Uttar Pradesh between August 3 and 6, and for Eastern Uttar Pradesh between August 2 and 6. Heavy rainfall is expected in western Rajasthan on August 2 and in eastern Rajasthan on July 31 and August 2.

Likelihood of rain and thunderstorms in Central India

The Meteorological Department has issued an alert for rain in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Vidarbha over the next few days. Heavy rainfall is forecast for western Madhya Pradesh until August 1, and for eastern Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh between August 3 and 6. Alerts have also been issued for thunderstorms, lightning strikes, and strong winds in several areas across these states.

Rain alert for Bihar and Jharkhand

According to the Meteorological Department, a spell of rain is expected to continue over the next week in West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Heavy rainfall is likely in several areas of West Bengal, Jharkhand, and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal-Sikkim from July 31 to August 6. Meanwhile, an alert has been issued for Bihar due to expected heavy rainfall between August 1 and 5.

Heavy rainfall warning for South India

According to the Meteorological Department, rainfall alerts have been issued for Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema, Lakshadweep, and Puducherry from July 31 to August 6. Additionally, heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely at several locations in Kerala, coastal Karnataka, and Lakshadweep. Alerts have also been issued for strong winds reaching speeds of 40 to 60 kmph in parts of coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Karnataka.
