Bhubaneswar: KIIT, KISS and KIMS founder Dr Achyuta Samanta was conferred with an honorary doctorate by Bikaner’s Maharaja Ganga Singh University (MGSU), one of Rajasthan’s oldest government universities.
The honorary doctorate was awarded to Odisha’s eminent educationist and social reformer at a special ceremony organised by the university at Lok Bhavan in Jaipur on Friday.
Rajasthan Governor and MGSU Chancellor Haribhau Bagde presented the award to Samanta in the presence of Deputy CM and Higher Education minister Dr. Prem Chand Bairwa, MGSU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Manoj Dixit and Registrar Prof. Yashpal Ahuja, besides several ministers and MLAs of Rajasthan.
In bestowing the honour, the Bikaner university recognised Samanta’s extraordinary contributions to societal development and welfare through education.
It is the 75th honorary doctorate received by Samanta from India and abroad.
Dr Samanta expressed his gratitude to the Governor and VC for inviting him from Odisha and appreciating his work, Dr Samanta dedicated the honour to his late mother Nilimarani, whose 10th death anniversary will be observed on August 2.
National Commission for Women (NCW) chairperson Vijaya Kishore Rahatkar was also conferred honorary doctorate at the event.
