Manchester United striker Benjamin Sesko is reportedly still viewed as a potential target for Bayern Munich in the future.

The Slovenia international is already well known to Bayern from his Bundesliga spell with RB Leipzig, and it appears he could come back under consideration again at a later stage.

That is according to Christian Falk in his latest exclusive column for CF Bayern Insider, with the German journalist offering fresh detail on Bayern’s interest in Sesko.

Sesko has not yet produced his very best form for Manchester United, but he remains a young player who is still developing, so Red Devils supporters will be hoping to see clear improvement from him before long.

If Sesko is unable to reach his top level in English football, then a return to Germany could become an option, with Bayern likely to have to think at some stage about a successor to veteran striker Harry Kane.

“Everyone can see that he (Kane) already has an important role at FC Bayern with his passing and playmaking ability. So, he already has in his mind that he could play deeper and leave room for a pure striker ahead of him,” Falk said.

“This idea was already developing at the club when Vincent Kompany first joined in 2024, which was why Bayern had the idea to bring Benjamin Sesko to Munich. He was too expensive at the time, which is why Manchester United ended up pulling off the deal a year later.

“However, the idea is still there to bring such a striker into the team. Now, Bayern have Ismael Saibari who can cover this role as well. So Bayern will perhaps see if they can make it work already this coming season.

“So they have to see if they’ll still need a player like Sesko down the line. The Slovenian is still on the list and he’s a player who’s very interesting for FC Bayern. Perhaps, if he’s struggling to make his mark in the Premier League, they could return to this idea.”

Sesko is still only 23 and continues to look like a footballer with a strong future at the highest level.

A tally of 12 goals in 32 appearances in his first season at Old Trafford is by no means poor, but he will surely need to improve on those figures soon or questions could emerge over his long-term future.

United are making encouraging progress under new manager Michael Carrick, but there is enormous pressure on the club to deliver both results and convincing performances quickly.

That means a player like Sesko could be replaced swiftly by someone more established if he does not develop in the way the club expect.

To some extent, that has already been seen with Sesko’s own arrival, as he was signed after the underwhelming form shown by both Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee.
