Kia India is reportedly gearing up to enter the premium hybrid SUV segment with the launch of the Sorento Hybrid. According to media reports, select dealerships have started accepting unofficial bookings for the SUV with a token amount of Rs 25,000, although Kia has not made any official announcement. Expected to arrive between September and December 2026, the Sorento Hybrid will become Kia’s first hybrid model in India and is likely to take on rivals such as the Toyota Fortuner, Mahindra XUV700 and Tata Safari.

Expected price and seating options

The Kia Sorento Hybrid is expected to be offered in 6-seater and 7-seater configurations. Reports suggest prices could range between Rs 28 lakh and Rs 35 lakh (ex-showroom), positioning it above the Kia Seltos in the company’s Indian portfolio.

Expected design and features

Globally, the Sorento features Kia’s latest design language with a tiger-nose grille, vertically stacked LED headlamps, connected LED tail lamps and a bold SUV stance. Measuring around 4,815mm in length, the SUV is expected to offer a spacious three-row cabin. Inside, the Sorento Hybrid is likely to feature:

Hybrid engine and mileage

Internationally, the Sorento Hybrid is powered by a 1.6-litre turbo-petrol hybrid powertrain producing 227hp and 350Nm of torque, paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. Some reports also suggest Kia could consider another hybrid powertrain for the Indian market. The SUV is expected to deliver a claimed fuel efficiency of around 14-15km/l, offering better fuel economy than many diesel-powered SUVs in the segment. Both front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive options are expected globally, although Kia has not confirmed the India-specific lineup.

Launch timeline

Kia has not officially confirmed the Sorento Hybrid for India or revealed its specifications, pricing or launch date. However, if the reports are accurate, the SUV could make its India debut in the coming months, giving buyers a new premium hybrid alternative in the full-size SUV segment.
