Cyber ​​attack on Bank of Baroda! Confidential information of crores of customers leaked on dark web

Cyber ​​attack on Bank of Baroda, one of the country’s top state-owned banks. The information of crores of customers was stolen and leaked on the dark web. This sensational incident has created a stir. The hacker group has claimed that they have got about 1 terabyte or 1TB of information by attacking the bank’s server. Which contains the names of the customers, Aadhaar cards, everything to loans. All this information is circulating on the dark web.

Srikanth Laxman, founder of CashlessConsumer, has released a sample of the leaked documents and termed the incident as a cyber disaster. It is learnt that the information leak first came to light on July 25 through the dark web tracking site ‘ransomeware.live’. Srikanth said that he checked the documents and found branch audits, loan appraisals, internal communications and customer applications. Although no hacker organization has claimed responsibility for the incident so far. However, Srikanth suspects that a new hacker group called ‘TripleX’ is behind it. Earlier, the organization was involved in stealing about 2TB of data from a bank in Indonesia. There was no comment from the Reserve Bank or Bank of Baroda on this matter.

The issue of data leakage first came to light on July 25 through the dark web tracking site ‘ransomeware.live’.

The hacker group claims that the leaked 1TB of data includes customer savings and current account records, loan and net banking information, NRI and corporate banking service records, as well as documents to various branches and ATMs. The list also includes customer names, phone numbers and Aadhaar details. Naturally, the financial security of customers is in question in this incident.

However, this is not the first time that banks and other important institutions in the country have been attacked by cyber attacks. Recently, information has come to light that 19,000 sensitive files of the Kudankulam nuclear power plant in Tamil Nadu, India have been leaked. The hacking company ‘World Leaks’ hacked a server of Anil Ambani’s Reliance ADAG, the contractor of the nuclear power plant, and obtained this information. The leaked documents include the layout design of various parts of the nuclear power plant, internal management, component designs, detailed descriptions of suppliers, and even security information.
