Indian javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra's dream of winning a gold medal at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games remained unfulfilled. However, he managed to win the silver medal. Neeraj Chopra won the silver medal with a throw of 85.83 meters.
Meanwhile, India's Yashveer Singh won the bronze medal with a personal best throw of 85.41 meters. Sri Lanka's Rumesh Pathiraje won the gold medal with a throw of 89.75 meters. India won a total of six medals on the eighth day of the Glasgow Commonwealth Games. These included two gold, two silver, and two bronze medals.
Asmita Dey won the gold medal in judo. This gave India its first gold medal in judo history. Just 15 minutes later, Harsh Singh won the second gold medal. Yamini Maurya won the silver medal. In athletics, Tejaswin Shankar won the bronze in the decathlon event, becoming the first Indian to win a medal in this event at the Commonwealth Games.
India is at 10th position in the points table with 23 medals.
India has so far reached 23 medals in Glasgow Commonwealth Games. India has won 5 gold, 12 silver and 6 bronze medals. With this, India is at 10th position in the medal tally. In javelin throw, Yashveer Singh of India surprised everyone by winning the bronze medal. Pakistan's Olympic champion Arshad Nadeem could not even make it to the top-8 and was eliminated after three rounds.
