The BCCI has announced the Indian team for the two-Test series against Sri Lanka. Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja return, while Saransh Jain has been included in the Test squad for the first time.
Team India squad for IND vs SL series: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced Team India for the two-match Test series against Sri Lanka in August. Under the captaincy of Shubman Gill, the Indian team will tour Sri Lanka, featuring a mix of experienced players and some young faces. Ravindra Jadeja and Jasprit Bumrah return to the squad, while off-spinner Saransh Jain has been included in the Test squad for the first time.
However, the fitness of some players remains a topic of discussion with the team selection. Jasprit Bumrah and Sai Sudharshan have been included in the squad, but their final selection will depend on their fitness clearance. The injured Washington Sundar will not be part of the series, leading the selectors to place their faith in young Saransh Jain.
IND vs SL: Saransh Jain gets his first chance in place of Washington Sundar
Washington Sundar was injured during the recent ODI series against England. Due to this, he missed the third ODI and is now out of the Test series against Sri Lanka as well. The selectors have included off-spinner Saransh Jain in the Test squad for the first time in his place. This is his first Test call-up of his career and will now be a great opportunity for him to make his debut for the Indian team.
IND vs SL: Decision to be made on the fitness of Bumrah and Sai Sudarshan
Jasprit Bumrah and Sai Sudarshan have been included in the Indian team, but their final inclusion will only be possible once they receive fitness clearance. Bumrah also suffered from knee swelling during the England tour and was ruled out of the third ODI due to this. Sai Sudarshan is also in the process of regaining full fitness. Therefore, the team management will be monitoring the availability of both players.
IND vs SL: Practice match from August 7, Test series to begin on August 15

This will be followed by the first Test in Galle on August 15. The second and final Test will be held at the SSC Ground in Colombo on August 23.
