In a shocking case, the police in Gujarat's Jamnagar had supposedly solved a murder mystery where a woman allegedly killed her husband two years ago and hid it from others, saying he has gone to Australia for a job.

The story, which has a resemblance to Drishyam, came to light when one of the woman's relatives, planning a trip to Australia, asked for the address. The woman, identified as Prithvi, alias Bhumiben, hesitated to provide any details about her husband, Jignesh Mavadiya. Her suspicious behavior prompted the relatives to file a complaint on July 26.

The case turned out to have an unexpected outcome when the cops recovered a skeletal remains from beneath a factory premises in Jamnagar on Thursday. Prithvi, for the past two years, has claimed that her husband, Jignesh, had moved to Australia and his company policy strictly prohibits him from taking phone calls.

A Fool-Proof Plan

The police have arrested Prithvi, her ex-boyfriend Nilesh, and his associate Balveer Verma on murder charges. On May 31, 2024, Prithvi allegedly had taken her husband Jignesh to an industrial shed on the pretext of an alcohol party. She then poisoned his drink with cyanide to kill him.

Following this, the three allegedly dug a pit about 12 feet deep, buried the body, covered it with soil, and later sealed the spot with a nearly one-foot-thick concrete layer.

What Did the Cops Say?

"To ascertain the identity of the deceased, the remains have been handed over to forensic experts. The victim's wife, her alleged lover, and one of their associates have been arrested," Assistant Superintendent of Police Pratibha added.

Charges relating to murder, destruction of evidence, and other offences have been invoked against the accused. Further investigation is underway to establish the complete sequence of events and gather additional evidence in the case, the police said.
