SIR: Telangana deadline extended until August 10

The Election Commission on Friday extended the enumeration deadline for the special intensive revision of electoral rolls in Telangana till August 10, ANI reported.

This is the second extension in the state. On July 15, the poll panel had extended the enumeration deadline to August 3 from July 24.

On Saturday, the poll panel gave booth level officers one more week to complete the house-to-house verification of voters.

Under the revised timeline, the draft voter list in the state will be published on August 17 instead of August 10.

The claims and objections by persons who are removed from the draft list can be filed between August 17 and September 16. The claims will be heard between till October 15 before the final electoral roll is published by October 19.

Data shared by the Election Commission showed that 77% of the enumeration forms had been digitised in the state as of Friday. The digitisation rate was 56.3% in Hyderabad.

Yadadri Bhongiri district had recorded the highest form digitisation rate of 94.2%, followed by Jangaon at 91.4%.

Telangana is among the 16 states where the voter roll revision is underway in the third phase of SIR.
