Maruti Suzuki along with Toyota and Nissan continue to take positive strives in sales

New Delhi: The Japanese carmakers have continued showing good performance in the Indian market as Maruti Suzuki continues to lead the charge with sales hitting 2 lakh units. Even Nissan and Toyota have posted positive results in the month. 

Maruti Suzuki India posted total sales of 241,421 units in July 2026, taking a 33.7 per cent year-on-year increase compared to 180,526 units in July 2025. The brand also recorded its highest-ever domestic sales, with passenger vehicles and light commercial vehicles together accounting for 200,123 units, although exports declined mildly to 30,056 units.

Including dispatches to other original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), Maruti Suzuki’s total domestic sales reached 211,365 units, up from 148,781 units from the year before. Supplies to OEM partners rose to 11,242 units from 8,211 units, though exports slipped from 31,745 units in July last year.

Passenger vehicle sales in the domestic market climbed to 196,203 units, compared with 137,776 units in the same timeframe in 2025. The compact and mid-size car lineup, including the Baleno, Swift, Dzire and WagonR, remain Maruti Suzuki’s best-selling segment, making for 90,822 units, up from 65,840 units a year ago.

Demand for utility vehicles also remained strong, with sales surging to 78,851 units from 52,773 units. This segment includes the Brezza, Ertiga, Fronx, Grand Vitara, Invicto, Jimny, XL6, e Vitara and Victoris. The entry-level segment also witnessed healthy growth, with Alto and S-Presso sales increasing to 12,634 units from 6,822 units. Eeco van sales improved to 13,896 units, and Super Carry light commercial vehicles recorded 3,920 units, compared with 2,794 units in July 2025.

For the first four months of FY2026-27 (April-July), Maruti Suzuki’s cumulative sales stood at 924,145 units, moving from 708,387 units during the same period last year. Domestic passenger vehicle sales reached 721,431 units, with exports standing at 154,792 units.

Nissan and Toyota show good response

Nissan Motor India reported a 218 per cent Y-o-y jump in domestic wholesales for July 2026. It was supported by the rollout of customer deliveries for the newly launched TEKTON SUV and an expanded product lineup.

The brand dispatched 4,518 vehicles to dealerships in the domestic market during the month, while exports stood at 4,821 units, taking total wholesales to 9,339 units. Domestic wholesales also grew 50 per cent month-on-month, showing stronger market demand.

Customer deliveries of the TEKTON started on July 20, following its global debut on July 9. The SUV joins the Magnite and Gravite in Nissan’s Indian lineup, giving the brand a three-model lineup. Nissan also noted that the launch of the TEKTON transforms its domestic lineup from a single-model offering into a three-product portfolio. The brand is also looking to increase its dealerships.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) reported total sales of 32,516 units in July 2026. Of these, 30,516 units were sold in the domestic market. This shows a 5 per cent Y-o-Y increase over the 29,159 units recorded in July 2025.

The brand also maintained steady momentum over the course of the year. During the January-July 2026 period, Toyota sold 233,854 units, up 13 per cent from 207,497 units during the corresponding period in 2025. For the first four months of FY2026-27 (April-July), Toyota Kirloskar Motor had cumulative sales of 128,746 units, compared to 119,669 units in the same period of the previous financial year. It shows an 8 per cent year-on-year growth.
