The makers of Varun Tej’s horror-comedy Korean Kanakaraju have stepped up the promotions by releasing the film’s theatrical trailer. Directed by Merlapaka Gandhi and produced by UV Creations in association with First Frame Entertainment, the trailer was launched by Ram Charan. The trailer introduces an unusual premise. It begins with a mysterious ritual connected to Korean Kanakaraju before shifting to Penukonda, where a carefree young man falls in love with a girl. The story takes an unexpected turn when the protagonist is possessed by the spirit of a feared Korean gangster, leading to a series of comic and chaotic situations. Merlapaka Gandhi appears to have blended a rooted Rayalaseema setting with Korean-inspired elements to create a distinctive commercial entertainer. The trailer moves between supernatural moments, comedy, emotion and action without revealing too much about the plot. Varun Tej is seen in two contrasting shades. His cheerful village-boy character is quite different from the intense personality of the Korean gangster. His Rayalaseema slang, physical appearance and Korean-inspired mannerisms add variety to the role. Satya provides several comic moments with his timing, while Ritika Naik makes a pleasant impression. Manojh Reddy Katasani’s cinematography captures both the Rayalaseema and Korean settings effectively. S Thaman’s background score adds energy to the trailer, while the production scale of UV Creations and First Frame Entertainment is visible throughout.
