Commonwealth Games 2026: Indian athletes continue their impressive performance at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland. India has so far won a total of 12 medals, including two gold, seven silver, and three bronze. With this, the Indian team remains in ninth place in the medal tally.
India’s most successful sport was weightlifting, where athletes made the largest contribution, winning seven medals. Mirabai Chanu won gold in the women’s 48 kg category, marking her third consecutive Commonwealth Games title. Harjinder Kaur, Rishikant Singh, Raja Muthupandi, Gyaneshwari Yadav, and Valluri Ajaya Babu won silver, while Bindiyarani Devi won bronze.
In athletics, Sarvesh Kushare (high jump) and Gulvir Singh (10,000 meters) won silver medals. In para-athletics, Sharmila Dhankhar won gold and Shilpa K. Shayla won bronze. In para-powerlifting, Jhandu Kumar opened India’s account with a bronze medal.
Australia leads the medal table with 80 medals, followed by Canada and England. India’s focus now rests on star athletes like Neeraj Chopra, Sreeshankar Murali, Tajinderpal Singh Toor, and Parul Chaudhary, who are expected to add more medals in the coming days.
