New Delhi: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a detailed and emergency weather forecast for the next 6 days (2 to 7 August 2026) for a large part of the country. According to meteorologists, due to the monsoon trough line and the area of ​​cyclonic winds, torrential to heavy rains will continue in many states of North, Central, East, West, Northeast and South India. During this period, strong winds with a speed of 30 to 60 kilometers per hour, thunderstorms (lightning) and waterlogging have been expressed.

Heavy rain in North India and plains: Alert in hilly states including UP-Delhi

Both the hilly and plain areas of North India will continue to receive the blessings of monsoon and the threat of heavy rains:

Hill States (Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir): An orange/yellow alert for lightning and widespread heavy rainfall is in effect for Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Jammu and Kashmir (Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad) from August 2 to 7. Landslide warnings have also been issued.

Uttar Pradesh: Heavy rain is likely in many areas of eastern Uttar Pradesh from August 2 to 6 and in western Uttar Pradesh from August 3 to 7.

Delhi, Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh: Heavy rains accompanied by strong thunderstorms may be recorded in the plains between August 3 and 4.

Rajasthan: Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely over East and West Rajasthan on August 2, with winds blowing at a speed of 30-50 km/hr.

West, Central and South India: Risk of storm winds in coastal areas

Gujarat, Konkan and Goa: Konkan and Goa will experience continuous torrential rain from August 2 to 7. Heavy rain is expected in the Gujarat region and Saurashtra-Kutch on August 2 to 3.

Central and Eastern India: Widespread rainfall will occur over Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, West Bengal, and Sikkim. There is a risk of lightning in areas of Bihar, Jharkhand, and West Bengal.

South India and Coastal Regions: Heavy to very heavy rainfall will occur over Kerala, coastal Karnataka, and south interior Karnataka. Thundersqualls with gusty winds of 50 to 70 km/h are possible over northern and southern interior Karnataka on August 2nd.

Strict warning for fishermen and temperature conditions

In view of the high waves and strong winds in the sea, the Meteorological Department has issued a red flag for fishermen:

Avoid going into sea: Sea conditions will be rough to very rough over Arabian Sea (Somalia, Oman, Gujarat, Karnataka, Kerala and Lakshadweep coasts) and Bay of Bengal (Sri Lanka coast and Andaman Sea) till August 6.

Temperature and recent records: Over the past 24 hours, Kannur (11 cm) and Thrissur (10 cm) in Kerala received the most rainfall. Khargone (MP) recorded the lowest minimum temperature of 18.2°C, while Tondi (Tamil Nadu) recorded the highest maximum temperature of 40.5°C.
