New Delhi: The 15-year-old girl who appeared in a viral video abusing PM Narendra Modi on Sunday said, “I got a new life.” The statement came after PM Narendra Modi in a video message said that “misguided children” who abused him during the Jantar Mantar protest should be forgiven. The PM said that these children must be guided towards the right path.

Now the girl who was forgiven has said that she had never thought that she would be forgiven. She described the Prime Minister’s gesture as a “very big thing.” In a video on social media, the teenager said that she was overwhelmed at the gesture of PM Modi.

She said that she was very happy that PM Modi had forgiven her. She said, “This is a very big thing for me. In a way I have got a second life. I made such a big mistake and I never thought I would be forgiven. I felt that everything was over.”

The girl admitted that she had used some very bad words against the PM, but immediately after that the person she had targeted forgave her. She said that she got very emotional upon seeing the video where the PM had forgiven her.

Talking about how she got embroiled in the controversy. The girl said that she had gone to Connaught Place with friends on July 23 and came across a hunger strike at Jantar Mantar. She said that initially she and her friends had no plans of visiting the site of the strike, but later out of curiosity they went there.

She said that she and her friends had gone to Jantar Mantar to just see what was happening there.

The 15-year-old said, “There were several groups there. Many YouTubers were giving people microphones and asking them to speak. They were telling people to say whatever they wanted to say. When they came to me and asked me to say something, I asked what I should say and in what context.”

The girl claimed that the YouTubers said, “Say whatever you want.” They further said that something wrong was happening and I had freedom to speak, said the teenager. She said that after this, she said the things and went viral in no time.

She said, “What I said was wrong. I apologised and I will continue to apologise until my apology is accepted.”

She said that she did not make the remarks “unknowingly” but claimed that she was “influenced by people around her.”

The girl claimed that there were several other people also, who were giving their opinion at the protest site. She said that she spoke the way she was told to speak. She claimed that YouTube promised that the video would not be posted. But later the video went viral on social media.

The girl further claimed that ever since the video came out she had been receiving threats.

The girl claimed that someone leaked her mobile number and ever since then, she had been receiving threat calls. She said that she had been told that she would be raped and thrown into a drain.

The girl claimed that the case against her had not been withdrawn and police personnel continued to visit her home. She said that the police were searching for her everywhere as if she had committed a crime. She concluded by saying, “I only want to say that I am very happy that he (PM Modi) has forgiven me. Please, I will not be able to tolerate all this anymore.”

In a late night video on social media, PM Modi had said that “it pained him that both he and his late mother had been subjected to filthy abuses” during the Jantar Mantar protest. However he said, “misguided children” should be forgiven and guided on the “right path.”

Earlier, in her apology video, the girl said she was “extremely embarrassed and ashamed” and appealed for forgiveness.

A Zero FIR had been lodged against the girl In Noida and the apology video came after the complaint. The girl lives with her family in Faridabad.
