Actress Bhavana has been winning hearts with her portrayal of Swathi in Vasudeva Kutumba . As the family drama continues to resonate with audiences, the actress opened up about unexpectedly bagging the role, finding similarities with her on-screen character, balancing Kannada and Telugu television commitments, and her unconventional journey from microbiology to acting . In an exclusive conversation with ETimes, Bhavana shared how playing Swathi has been one of the most fulfilling experiences of her career so far.

Bhavana revealed that joining Vasudeva Kutumba happened much sooner than she had imagined.

"It all happened very unexpectedly. I received a call for the show just a week before the promo shoot. I was already committed to a Telugu serial, so I wasn't expecting to take up another project so soon. But I had always hoped to begin my journey in the Kannada industry, and when this opportunity came along, I couldn't let it pass."

The actress said it was the story and its emotional depth that convinced her to take up the show.

"What attracted me the most was the family's emotional bond and the way relationships are portrayed in the story. It's a heartwarming narrative, and I instantly felt connected to it."

Speaking about her character Swathi , the actress described her as a woman who shoulders immense responsibility after her father's demise.

"Swathi is someone who puts her family before herself. After losing her father, she becomes the pillar of the household and takes on every responsibility with strength and dignity. She's honest, righteous, and deeply values her relationships."

Interestingly, Bhavana says she found several similarities between herself and the character.

"I relate to Swathi in many ways. Like her, I'm someone who believes in standing by my family and doing what's right. That's one of the reasons I felt emotionally invested in this role from the very beginning."

The actress also expressed her excitement about sharing screen space with a seasoned cast.

"I'm probably still a bud among such many experienced actors in our show. Every day on set feels like a learning experience. Watching them perform and interacting with them has helped me grow as an actor. I truly feel blessed to be a part of such a talented team."

Currently juggling both a Kannada and Telugu daily soap, Bhavana admitted that maintaining a work-life balance has been challenging.

"It's a completely new experience for me. I hardly get any personal time because I'm constantly travelling and shooting for both shows. The schedule is hectic, but I remind myself that I'm doing what I genuinely love. That makes every bit of the hard work worthwhile."

Bhavana's journey into acting is far from conventional. Before entering the entertainment industry, she pursued academics in the field of science.

"I completed my Master's in Microbiology and even worked in clinical research related to cancer studies. Acting was never part of the original plan."

She added that although she had appeared in a few projects as a child, it was her father's encouragement that eventually changed the course of her career.

"The camera was never unfamiliar because I had done a few shows during my childhood. Later, when I received an audition opportunity through social media, my father encouraged me to give it a chance. It was always his dream to see me on screen. I trusted his belief in me, went for the audition, and today acting has become my profession."

Looking ahead, Bhavana hopes to carve out a unique identity for herself in the industry.

"I'm still at the beginning of my journey, and there's so much to learn. My biggest goal is to build a niche for myself through meaningful performances and earn the love and trust of the audience. I hope people remember me for the characters I bring to life."
